Their music had already been heard on radio stations across Kansas City, and Nathan Bowman was included in Pitch Magazines "Best of KC: 2013" as one of the three "Best Sexy Musicians."

Unwed Sailor

Sat, August 30, Doors: 8:00 pm - Show: 9:00 pm - 21+ - $10  Artist Website
The Vaudeville Mews presents...
Born in Seattle in 1998 at the tender age of intent, Unwed Sailor is helmed by Oklahoma-born songwriter Johnathon Ford. The basis for the instrumental project came into being while Ford was still writing with Seattle luminaries Roadside Monument. Pulling towards a bass guitar-oriented sound, the songs he had begun to craft did not fully feel right for Roadside Monument, thus the unbeknownst predestined forming of Unwed Sailor. Not aiming for Unwed Sailor to fall into the regular confines of a typical band, Ford's ever evolving cast and crew has been tirelessly composed over the years of good friends and company. Throughout the past decade, Unwed Sailor has shared the stage with the likes of Pedro the Lion, Mary Timony, Low, The Danielson Famile, Sufjan Stevens, Early Day Miners, Minus the Bear, The Advantage, The Starlight Mints, Battles, Mates of State, and Beach House(just to name a few....). The band has since been relocated and based out of cities across the United States, including Chicago, Seattle, Washington D.C., Jackson MS, Little Rock, AR, and most recently Lawrence, KS. With numerous tours in the U.S. and Europe, the band has traveled almost as much as it has evolved.

Grandchamp

Sun, August 31, Doors: 5:30 pm - Show: 6:00 pm - All Ages - $5  Artist Website
The Vaudeville Mews presents...
Grandchamp explores the middle ground between poetic loner pop and a DIY guitar orchestra. The 5 piece band consists of: Bridget Albaugh, Matt Albaugh, Charlie Cacciatore, Andrew Jones, & Nate Kouri. Earlier this summer they appeared at the 80/35 Music Festival and the Iowa State Fair. Their debut EP, Rinse Cycle is quickly becoming an underground sensation. "New Grandchamp is powerhouse. Sounds like Conor Oberst on speed and it's absolutely magnificent."-Troy Ikeda, Keyboard Prodigy "Listening to Grandchamp at Iowa State Fair. Groovy Players. Very Violent Femmes-sounding" -Jon J. Kerr, Author ""Wasting Words," with its saxophone-laced intro, reminds me of Christopher the Conquered. Special attention should also be paid to the excellent drum work of Bridget Albaugh" -Chad Taylor, Des Moines Cityview

Soap

Sun, August 31, Doors: 9:30 pm - Show: 10:00 pm - 21+ - $5  Artist Website
The Vaudeville Mews presents...
Like the band name, Soap's music is undoubtedly fresh. With influences ranging from jazz, blues and funk to progressive, psychedelic and electronic, Soap skillfully fuses all of these genres into one dance infused rock. Imagine going to a double matinee showing of Led Zeppelin & P-Funk at Dream Theater and then heading to an Amsterdam discotheque to dance until the sun came up. That's about as close as can be described without seeing Soap for yourself.

Wise Eyes

Wed, September 3, Doors: 5:30 pm - Show: 6:00 pm - All Ages - $5  Artist Website
The Vaudeville Mews presents...
Maryland outfit 'Wise Eyes' was formed in the outset of the summerl of 2010 in the diverse culture of Bowie, thirty-five minutes from Baltimore and twenty minutes from Washington DC. A crisp and clean/slightly distorted up beat tempo followed by catchy breakdowns, integrates a folk edge to their punk roots. What was originally just a couple of guys jamming out in a basement at three o'clock in the morning instantly progressed into a talented and motivated four peice band. Less than 6 months later, the band released their first EP titled "The One". Wise eyes consists of vocalist/guitarist Sean Moore, vocalist/bassist Evan Ruhl, lead guitarist Brett Setera, and drummer Jay D'Annunzio. While the guys are frequently playing as many local venues as they can, they're working towards touring nationally in a city near you. Listen for a sound you can feel with a message you can clearly see... Wise eyes.
